VOLUNTEERING

COMMITMENT :  To get involved in solidarity, one can be “voluntary”. What does this status mean? Does a volunteer receive a salary? How to become a volunteer? In France or abroad?

Volunteering is an act of exchange, a commitment between a host structure and a volunteer. The status of volunteer differs from both the volunteer and the employee. Its characteristics are as follows:

  1. The volunteer engages in a formal way, by contract, for a limited period, for a mission of general interest;

  2. The volunteer, in return for this commitment,  learn and discover. He receives a subsistence allowance which is not equivalent to a salary  ;

  3. Volunteering is not covered by the labor code, except for international solidarity leave

Volunteer status has grown significantly in recent years, whether in France or internationally. However, the diversity of forms of volunteering remains complex and sometimes unknown to the public, despite its interest, both professional and personal.

We are here to promote volunteering and explain its specificities,  inform and guide people who wish to get involved in sending structures for volunteers and host associations.

WHY  VOLUNTEERING ?

High school students, students, young graduates, working professionals, retirees, volunteers share the same desire for selfless commitment in an action of development and international solidarity. Each year, more and more young people want to make a useful commitment, meet real needs while sharing a life experience with those who welcome them.
The structures that welcome volunteers, especially in developing countries, are in demand for exchanges, openness to the world, sharing and transfer of skills. They expect an opportunity to meet for greater solidarity.

TO EACH HIS / HER VOLUNTEERING

Whether it is a question of giving of their time, of exchanging and discovering, of bringing or sharing their professional skills, all volunteers share  common values. According to his availability, his level of training, his professional situation and his centers of interest, the young person at the beginning will orient himself towards the device or the structure which corresponds to him. Information and guidance, training and preparation for departure, followed by support in the field, are all key stages in a successful stay.
